Thanks Stuart for doing an amazing job – I am sure there is no better bus driver around. This bus caught me up I guess at around the 8 hour mark at a time when I was feeling very flat and had lost a bunch of other guys I was running with earlier. I could feel the bus catching up to me for about 30 mins which was pretty intimidating – like a breakaway cyclist being reeled in by the peloton. Luckily I saw the reluctant runner and Craig as the bus swept past me so I went over to say hi – I didn’t think I could keep pace but I thought I would hang in as long as I could. In the end I stayed with the bus till the finish line. I am sure I would have finished without the bus – but it really helped me out, saved me time and it was great fun running in a big group. Running in a bus also gets great support. I have never been a bus runner but after this I would highly recommend it – especially if you are not really sure what you are doing like I was in Comrades #1 and if you are struggling. I found the hardest part of the bus was that I could not walk as fast the group when we did small sections of hard road or a water stop and I nearly lost the group a few times – I had to run ahead and let them catch up, I am a slow walker I guess. Stuart your energy, very loud instructions and knowledge was awesome. My favourite instruction was right near the end “NO one leaves the bus!! We ran together and we finish together” That was awesome.
